The Des Moines Art Center engages diverse local and international audiences with contemporary art through its museum and school.
The Art Center offers free admission every day, which is supported by Principal Financial Group Foundation, Inc. and Art Center members.
The museum and its offices are closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve
The SS Yongala
The SS Yongala Australia’s most famous shipwrecks. The vessel, a steel passenger and freight steamer, was built in Newcastle, England, in 1903 for the Adelaide Steamship Company. It was named after a coastal town in Queensland and primarily served the eastern coast of Australia, transporting passengers and cargo between Sydney and various northern ports.
